Wednesday, 30th April 2014 Choosing the perfect holiday accomodation
I guess the `perfect´ property does not actually exist however we do, naturally, want to be sure that the property we choose for our `so precious holiday´ meets the varying needs of all the members of your party. Quiet a responsability, especially if your party includes extended members of your family or good friends!
With thousands of properties in Mallorca, or Majorca if you prefer, to choose from I would suggest that you prepare a list of your essential requirments, followed by a second `would be a bonus´ list. I love a client that tells me exactly what they want as I do not waste time offering properties that are of no interest, because, there is no lift for example.
Mallorca offers a selection of popular resorts, all with a unique atmosphere and location so the most important point to consider would be the location of your holiday. Even within your resort you want to have an idea whether you want sea front, centre of resort or slightly outside the main resort if you enjoy a stroll. Remember sea front apartments will always have the highest price and so if you are on a tight budget it may be better to look for a property a few streets back from the sea or the centre.
Now, its time to consider the type of accomodation you think would be most suitable to everyone in your party. Hotels are ideal if you prefer to have your beds made daily, breakfast served, and a 24hour reception. The aparthotel gives a little more space than a hotel room and a basic kitchen. Maybe ideal if you have young children who could join a kiddies club or make friends around the pool. You may just get the chance to sit on a sunbed for 30mins without hearing those magic words `I am bored¨!
If you require more than one bedroom, a well equipped kitchen for home catering and good home comforts then maybe a private apartment is worth considering. They provide total flexibility allowing you to come and go as you wish. Do check the arrangements for key collection and what happens should you experience any maintenence issues. If members of your party want to do their own thing is a second key available? Naturally caution and care must be taken when booking on line with an individual who you do not know so beware of any suspicious offers that sound too good to be true… they often are.
That brings us to the villas with private pool. This is great for large families or groups of friends, just be sure you have enough bathrooms if sharing with friends! The villas offer privacy, total flexibility, relaxation and the bonus of not having to get up at 0700hrs to put your towels around the pool before anyone else! Basically, one huge shop on arrival to fill up the fridge and freezer and thats it! Most villas have a bar b que allowing `Dad´ to cook, with a cool beer in his hand, and a dip in the pool between turning the sausages, he may even offer to cook several nights during the week.
Now you have chosen your location and type of property you just need to decide what else you need, is it air conditioning, swimming pool, nice views, a lift, car parking, dishwasher, central heating or maybe wifi connection? Finally your maximum weekly budget and then start looking.

Countryside setting… expect sounds of cockerals, barking dogs, sheep bells
Rustic charm…… how rustic? Is there running water/electricity?
Busy bars and restaurants just a stones throw away ….. they know, as previous guests threw stones to the noisy revellers of these bars
Traditional, contemporary decor….. in need of refurbishment
Non stop fun and entertainment….. no chance of sleeping during this holiday!
